Constitution
In April 1989, the Muslim students from foreign countries gathered at the Foreign Student House, 6-1 Kuwanoki-cho, Tsushima, Okayama 700-0080, and decided to have a Muslim Association. With proper recognition from MSAJ (Muslim Student Association, Japan), They established Okayama Muslim Students' Association, as a Regional Chapter of MSAJ.They set the aims and objectives of the OMSA as:
1. To glorify the word of Allah and work for the welfare of its members.
2. To promote better understanding of Islam based on Quran and Sunnah, to increase Islamic awareness and to strengthen Islamic brotherhood among Muslim students and trainees.
3. To work for the promotion and establishment of better and constructive relations with non-Muslims, to remove misunderstanding about Islam and to contribute to its propagation.
4. To work for the unity and cause of the Muslim Ummah.
5. To coordinate and cooperate with Islamic organizations of similar objectives.
Very Special days of OMSA
1- 23rd April 1989 The first Gathering of RAMADAN Breakfast party.
2- 28th April 1989 The First "Friday Congregational Prayer"
3- 6th May 1989 The First "Eid-ul Fitr Congregational Prayer".
4- May 1989, Recognition of OMSA by the Islamic center and Kobe Mosque as the first Islamic Association in Okayama.
Regular activities:
1- Organizing the Friday prayers.
2- Special Islamic days' celebration including the two main festivals, Eid Alfir and Aladha.
3- Organizing the Quran reading and memorization cycles and special Islamic teaching lessons for both genders.
4- Organizing Gathering Iftar parties during Ramadan including Japanese citizens' invitation.
5- Ramadan night prayers (Taraweeh and Qiaam).
6- Preparation for two welcome/farewell parties every year in March and September for Muslim students.
7- Identifying islam by:
A) Inviting some Islamic scholars and held gathering seminars.
B) Participation in some local and general meetings with Japanese and international associations.
C) Printing and distributing simple pamphlets about Islam and co-publishing some other books.
Some special events:
1) 1994, August, MSAJ's regional camp were hosted and arranged by OMSA in Okayama University (Tsushima campus).
2) 1997, Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawy visited Okayama on May for an Islamic conference in Okayama arranged by OMSA.
3) 1998, participation in the Islamic camp arranged by World Assembly for Muslim Youth (WAMY) with cooperation with ICJ in Tokyo.
4) 1999, February, Meeting lecturer (Islam which is known to Japanese) by Prof. Dr. Hasan Nakata Ko. were held in Okayama Exchange center.
5) 2000, participation in the Islamic camp arranged by World Assembly for Muslim Youth (WAMY) with cooperation with ICJ in Kobe.
6) 2003, October, "IGS International conference on Muslim communication" was held in Okayama. A related booklet was published based on that conference.
7) 2004, May 28th Participation in "Japan and the Arab World" seminar, held in IC Okayama.
8) 2004, "Islam and Japanese Religions" conference were held in the international student center with Cooperation with UNISCO, Prof. Dr, Abdul Rahman Seduqi (President of ICJ) was the main lecturer in that conference.
9) 2004, October 30th , knowing Islam, lecture meeting 1, was held in Okayama university international student center with the cooperation of UNISCO.
10) 2005, March 20th , knowing Islam, lecture meeting 2, was held in Okayama university international student center with the cooperation of UNISCO.
11) 2005, April, OMSA was recognized by Okayama University as one of the active students' associations working under its umbrella and the
OMSA president and two secretaries had been recognized as directors of the International student association.
12) 2005, October 29th , Islam, Buddhism and Shinto, lecture meeting 3, was held in Okayama city international center with the cooperation of UNISCO.
13) 2005, November 14th , Islam, Buddhism and Shinto, lecture meeting 4, was held in Okayama university international student house with the cooperation of UNISCO.
14) 2006, Oct. 30th Participation in the "Grassroots Dialogues between Islam and Japanese Religions" conference held in the Okayama International Center by UNISCO. A related booklet was published based on that conference.
15) 2007, July, Okayama University Co-Op introduced the Halal Food menu in the Co-Op cafeteria as a consequence of the request offered by OMSA and the Muslim Directors in the ISA.
16) 2008, August 15-17, participation in Islamic meeting arranged by MSAJ with cooperation of World Assembly for Muslim Youth (WAMY) and ICJ in Osaka
17) 2008, September, Signing a contract for a special land for building the first Masjed in Okayama In SHAA ALLAH
